Professor Bondur earned his Bachelor's degree from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (1972), followed by a Doctor of Technical Sciences (1990). He was elected Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2003 and served as its Vice President from 2017 to 2022. He founded and directs the Aerocosmos Research Institute for Aerospace Monitoring. His scientific achievements include developing methods for remote diagnostics of deep-sea processes, space monitoring of seismic and volcanic zones, and establishing new approaches to processing large-scale aerospace data. He has authored over 600 scientific publications and holds numerous patents. As a dedicated mentor, he has trained 24 candidates and 8 doctors of science. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Earth Exploration from Space. His longstanding cooperation with the Chinese scientific community has significantly advanced the Pan-Eurasian Experiment (PEEX) programme and the development of the IEAS China Science Centre.
