Lifetime Honorary Academician

Academician Savin was a pioneer in the field of space-based weapon systems. He led the development of the "Oko" (Eye) missile early warning satellite system and participated in the creation of multiple generations of spacecraft.He was the recipient of numerous state honours, including the title of Hero of Socialist Labour and the Lenin Prize.

Academician Savin was an outstanding scientist and General Designer who made groundbreaking contributions to global space information systems, missile defence, anti-satellite defence, and naval space reconnaissance. He personally contributed to the development of the most widely used artillery systems during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945), participated in the Soviet atomic project, and developed global space information systems that ensured strategic balance and the prevention of global nuclear war. He was also the founder of a leading scientific school in the fields of remote sensing and image processing.
